Lara Olson is a passionate, tireless advocate for those in need, the broken and under resourced. Her energy and skill enable her to help a large range of people in need from the medically challenged babies in Baobei, to now thousands of Filipino kids, to the poor and destitute in Liberia and Zimbabwe. Like her heart, her home is always open to everyone and overflows with hospitality, the fruits of which many college students are enjoying. Lara also serves in the Kids’ Ministry. In many places in our community, if you look carefully you will find an imprint of Lara’s life and passion.
My husband Shane and I, run a Non-governmental organization called Gathering Together and we help people go on short term mission trips. I am also a Medical Technologist and a Nurse hence serving isn’t what we choose to do, but it is who we are. We realized that if you don’t go out and follow where He asks you to go and have faith that He can do big things, you will never get to experience His amazing miracles or understand how big God is. If I didn’t choose to serve I don’t think I would understand God the way I do now. Volunteering at Abundant Grace has helped me to make church my family and home.—Lara Olson
