Musical worship is a large part of our weekend gatherings at Abundant Grace. Our sound team is constantly keeping a pulse on the latest education and information to improve this experience for all that come through our doors. One important aspect of this is caring for the hearing of those in attendance. Abundant Grace has set guidelines for our sound team to ensure the health and wellness of our members. The Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) have strict guidelines for extended periods of exposure to sound that our sound team adheres to.
Based on the OSHA recommendations, we keep an average decibel level of 85-90dB throughout the musical worship section of our gathering. We allow peaks to 95dB; however, these peaks are rare, and typically last for 20-30 seconds at maximum. The sound levels are checked throughout the service at our sound desk to ensure we are following safe practices.
Knowing that sound levels are subjective, we are happy to provide disposable earplugs for adults and children and noise cancelling headphones for babies. Please feel free to stop by the sound desk and ask to utilize these items. The earplugs are yours to keep, but we ask that the headphones be returned after service for cleaning.
