‘Freely you have received, freely give,’ Jesus told his disciples (Matt 10:8). Generosity is our Lenten theme this year (six Sundays, Feb 14-Mar 27). We say no (in fasting or other discipline) in order to say yes to God and others.
God is generous: with each sunrise, each flower that blooms, each kind act, act healing moment, each forgiveness; by sending Jesus to become one of us, to die for us, so we discover the meaning of generosity and love. We experience death to self in order to be made new (2 Cor 5:17) through the resurrection power of Easter.
This six-part Generosity series includes testimonies about fasting (saying no) explaining how it frees us to be more generous to God and others. See an artwork grow each week as a visualisation of our generosity. Join us in discovering and celebrating the freedom and joy of generosity.
