Generosity

Generosity

‘Freely you have received, freely give,’ Jesus told his disciples as he sent them on mission (Matt 10:8). Generosity is our Lenten theme this year (six Sundays, Feb 14-March 20). We say no (in fasting or other discipline) in order to say yes to God and others.
God is so very generous to us. With every sunrise, every flower that bursts into bloom every act of kindness, moment of healing, experience of forgiveness. By sending Jesus to become one of us, and die for us, so we can discover the deepest meanings of generosity and love. We experience death to self (the cross) in order to be made new (2 Cor 5:17) through the resurrection power of Easter (March 27).
In this six-part sermon series, we explore various expressions of generosity. We’ll have testimonies about fasting and other ways of saying no, and how it frees us to greater generosity in our yes to God and others. Together we’ll add Generosity Links week after week as we build a Lenten mobile.
Join us in discovering and celebrating the freedom and joy of generosity.
