The Abundant Grace Outreach Pastor is the vision holder and shepherd for fulfilling our church’s signature focus on serving those in need locally and around the world. Throughout its history, a defining characteristic of Abundant Grace has been the heart of its leaders and congregation for outreach, generously sharing our financial blessings and our time, with a large proportion of the congregation regularly participating in outreach activities. The Outreach Pastor will be one whose full character and life’s passion radiates a commitment to serving the poor, the dispossessed, the weak and abused, and those who have yet to hear the Gospel. The Outreach Pastor is charged with taking that commitment and translating it into a vision for local, national, and international outreach. Moreover, the Outreach Pastor is accountable for the effectiveness of the church’s outreach programs, ensuring that funds are spent wisely, congregation members serve enthusiastically, and those receiving our church’s care get the full benefit of this blessing.
We expect that this is a part-time position, likely 3 days per week of effort.
The outreach pastor must demonstrate the drive, adaptability, and leadership necessary achieve the following:
Provide visionary leadership for outreach initiatives. Insure that our church core value of Socially Aware and our longstanding commitment to outreach programs are built into our church culture, both for staff and congregation. Provide strategic thinking for all outreach activities, inspire people to join outreach activities, and assist in calling people to ministry & missions. Effectively communicate this vision to the full church body.
Manage outreach programs, including identifying outreach partners, managing relationships with these partners, and ensuring outreach program effectiveness. Aspects of this role including preparing the annual budget and calendar; establishing, evaluating and coordinating partnerships; encouraging, supporting and communicating regularly with our mission partners and those church members participating in outreach activities; integrating outreach efforts into all Abundant Grace ministries, including children, youth, and adult programs; and overseeing outreach policies and processes.
Recruit & train leaders to organize outreach programs. This includes short-term outreach trips, ongoing local outreach activities, and church financial and other in-kind support for outreach partners. Shepherd and provide pastoral care for outreach volunteer leaders. Lead by example in planning, coordinating and executing outreach activities and empower leaders to plan, coordinate, and execute activities themselves.
