Theme: Multi-cultural Community John 17:20-23
“How good and pleasant it is when God’s people live together in unity!” (Psalm 133:1) When my parents visited me in China, my students asked them if it was difficult raising six children. My parents spent more time with us kids than what I’ve observed in most families, but they didn’t complain about their hectic schedules. There was a time when finances were tight for our family, but that never bothered them. The only difficulty my parents mentioned, the only complaint I can remember them ever having, is that us kids used to fight about every little thing. I spent enough time at the home of this or that friend to say we were no different than other large families. Yet that made it no less ridiculous that we would argue for 5min at breakfast about who was the first one to wake up that morning. Did it really matter? A large percentage of the quarreling among the children of God is about as silly as who woke up first. But how greatly God is blessed when His children are united in purpose, united by love.
