As I was in the foyer setting up the various women’s activities, a young man interrupted me from my work. I had a long to do list, and was in the middle of unfolding chairs and setting up tables. I wasn’t expecting to talk to anyone. I assume he wanted to speak with me because of the large “INTERN” on the back of my shirt. He asked me my name, how I was, and how the setup process was going. He guessed correctly that this was my first time at AGIF. His friendly demeanor allowed me to open up quite easily. Throughout my week of interning, I have met a lot of kind, friendly people. This man’s positivity was akin to the happy, kind people I’ve been meeting all week. One of the key messages from the gathering was to love wide. This man preemptively acted on that message when he sparked a meaningful discussion with a complete stranger.
